Why does concrete crack and flake so fast in Fort St. John?
Usually a combination of poor base prep, the wrong mix for freeze-thaw exposure, and rushed curing. Frost heave moves slabs that don't have proper granular base under them, and non-air-entrained concrete spalls when water in it freezes. We address all three on every pour.
When can you pour concrete in the Peace region?
The reliable window runs roughly May through September. Cold-weather pours are possible with protection, but for most residential work we schedule within the season — which means booking early spring for a summer pour.
What is exposed aggregate, and is it worth it?
It's a finish where the top layer of cement is washed off to reveal the stone beneath — durable, naturally slip-resistant and better at hiding wear and winter grime than smooth brushed concrete. It's a popular upgrade for patios and walkways here.
Can you fix my existing driveway instead of replacing it?
Sometimes. Surface spalling and isolated cracks can often be repaired; badly heaved or crumbling slabs are usually better replaced. We'll look at it and tell you honestly which side of the line yours falls on.
